Vintage Mound City MC 8 Bit Brace w/ Auger Bits

This is a genuine vintage Mound City Tool Co. “MC 8” bit brace, made in St. Louis in the early 20th century, bundled with two auger bits and ready for use.

“Mound City” was an early nickname for the St. Louis region, referencing the Native American earthworks once common along the Mississippi River valley. The Mound City Tool Co. drew on that regional identity, a common practice among early American manufacturers.

This is a non-ratcheting brace, which is correct for this style and period.

I restore tools to be clean, stable, and honest — not polished to look new. This brace retains its original patina, wear, and character from a long working life.

• Wood cleaned and treated with boiled linseed oil, then lightly waxed
• Metal treated with light oil and wax for a dry, non-greasy finish
