Detailed Description

This is a vintage Village Blacksmith #6 grass hook, also commonly described as a hand sickle or old farm/garden cutting tool. It has a curved steel blade, original riveted wood handle, and visible “VILLAGE BLACKSMITH #6” marking on the handle.

The blade has been cleaned while preserving its dark aged patina. The edge was already reasonably sharp for this style of tool, so it was only lightly refreshed to give it a clean working glint without over-polishing the blade. The handle was lightly cleaned and sanded, then treated to bring back the wood while keeping the original stamped marking and age character intact.

This piece works well as rustic farmhouse decor, garden shed decor, cabin wall decor, potting bench display, or as part of a vintage hand tool collection. It may also be suitable for light garden use, but it is still an older sharp cutting tool and should be handled with care.

Condition: Good vintage condition with visible age, patina, scratches, dark spotting, and old use marks. The handle is tight. The wood handle shows dents, finish wear, discoloration, and honest working wear. No blade maker marking was visible during restoration. Please review all photos for condition and measurements.

Restoration performed: Cleaned with mineral spirits, WD-40, and a 3M pad. Handle lightly sanded with 320 grit. Blade treated with Ballistol and paste wax. Wood handle treated with boiled linseed oil and beeswax/mineral oil balm. Edge lightly touched up for presentation.
