Vintage Mound Tool Co triangular hand scraper with original wood handle and readable maker mark. Cleaned, lightly edge-freshened, and preserved with oil and wax, this St. Louis–sourced early 20th century scraper has strong industrial character and displays well while remaining a solid usable shop tool.

Detailed description

Marked MOUND TOOL CO, this vintage triangular scraper is a nice St. Louis piece with honest age and a strong original look. Mound Tool Co. was a St. Louis maker established in 1899, later incorporated in 1919, and period catalog records show the company made scrapers among its industrial tool lines.

This example retains its original turned wood handle and ferrule, with a dark aged steel body and a visible maker stamp. I sourced it in St. Louis, which adds a fitting local connection. St. Louis was historically nicknamed “Mound City” because of the many Indigenous earthwork mounds once found within the city’s boundaries.

Condition is very good vintage overall. The steel shows age, staining, and peppering consistent with use and storage. One area near the maker-mark side shows old edge disturbance / steel loss that has been stabilized and left honest rather than over-ground. The edges were lightly freshened for presentation and utility, and the tip was smoothed where old pitting had affected it. Handle appears solid with no visible cracks in the photos.

Restoration performed: cleaned, lightly edge-touched, oiled, and waxed. Original handle retained. No heavy polishing, no rehandle, and no attempt to erase age or maker-mark character.
