Vintage Golden Rod Model 606 pump oiler by Dutton-Lainson Co. of Hastings, Nebraska, featuring its original copper-tone finish, flexible metal spout, working pump and excellent original paper label. Carefully cleaned and preserved rather than refinished, this is a particularly attractive example for a vintage workshop, garage, machinist display or tool collection.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Vintage Golden Rod Model 606 pump oil can manufactured by Dutton-Lainson Co. in Hastings, Nebraska.

This small American-made oiler has a great mid-century industrial look, with a copper-tone painted steel body, flexible metal spout and the distinctive Golden Rod pump handle. The original paper label remains remarkably complete and clearly identifies the maker and Model 606.

The pump operates, the cap threads on and off smoothly, and the flexible spout can be positioned as needed. The reservoir has been drained and the oiler will be shipped empty, with only a light coating of mineral oil inside for preservation.

Condition

Very good vintage condition.

The original copper-tone finish is exceptionally well preserved for a working shop item of this age. There is some paint loss and dark wear around the rolled bottom edge, along with scattered small marks, scratches and finish imperfections consistent with age and previous use.

The original Golden Rod Model 606 paper label remains intact and highly legible, with age-related discoloration and edge wear. The pump assembly has scattered small dark spots and normal surface wear. The flexible spout also shows age and use, including some discoloration between the coils.

Please examine all photos closely. They are part of the condition description and intentionally show the remaining wear rather than hiding it.

Cleaning & Preservation

This oiler was treated conservatively to preserve its original character rather than refinished to look new.

  • Old oil was drained from the reservoir
  • Exterior was carefully cleaned
  • Original copper-tone paint was preserved
  • Original paper label was left intact
  • Pump and threaded cap were cleaned and checked
  • Pump operation was verified
  • Metal surfaces were lightly protected

No repainting or aggressive polishing was performed.

Use & Display

A great piece for a vintage tool collection, machinist or mechanic display, garage, workshop, service-station themed decor, or as a gift for someone who appreciates traditional American-made tools.

The pump is operational, but this is a vintage tool sold primarily as a collectible. It will be shipped empty.

A printed vintage tool care sheet is included with your purchase to help preserve the oiler’s original finish and condition.
