Detailed Description

This is a vintage wooden marking gauge / wood scribe used for layout work in woodworking and carpentry. The beam has clear inch markings up to 6 inches, a fixed marking pin near the end, a sliding wooden fence, and a wooden thumbscrew for locking the setting.

The tool has been lightly restored for clean presentation and functional use. The non-marked sides of the beam were lightly sanded to improve sliding action, the wooden thumbscrew was carefully adjusted so it locks properly, and the entire tool was treated with a beeswax balm. The marking point is intact and did not need repair.

Condition is good vintage working condition. The ruler markings are readable, the fence slides smoothly, and the thumbscrew locks the beam securely. There is age staining, patina, small dings, and normal shop wear throughout. The wooden thumbscrew has a small chip on the edge of the head, shown in the photos; this is cosmetic and does not affect function.

This would be a nice user tool for a hand-tool woodworker, a small addition to a vintage tool collection, or a display piece for a workshop, office, or rustic decor setting.
