Vintage Little Giant Rivet Press Punch

Vintage Little Giant cast iron hand-operated rivet press/punch, approximately 12½ inches long. This substantial old shop tool has been carefully cleaned, lubricated and waxed while preserving its original aged finish and working-tool character. A great piece for a leatherworking or vintage tool collection, workshop display, or industrial décor.

Vintage Little Giant Cast Iron Hand Rivet Press / Punch

A substantial old Little Giant hand-operated press with the maker/name cast prominently into both sides of the frame. The long handles provide mechanical leverage, while the adjustable threaded upper tool aligns over the lower die/anvil position.

The exact manufacture date is unknown. Comparable examples are commonly described as early-to-mid-20th-century tools, so I have conservatively selected the 1940s Etsy decade rather than claiming a precise production date. Comparable Little Giant examples are approximately 12½” overall.

Condition

Good restored vintage condition with substantial evidence of its previous working life. The casting retains dark aged finish/patina, scattered finish loss, surface pitting, scratches and other normal wear.

The frame and handles appear structurally sound, and the mechanism operates. Threads are clean and functional.

Important: No interchangeable dies or specialized tooling are included. The snap hardware shown in one photograph is for visual demonstration only and is not included with the press. Compatibility with any particular modern rivet, snap, eyelet or die system has not been verified.

Restoration

This tool was intentionally preserved rather than refinished. It was cleaned, worked by hand with WD-40 and a 3M abrasive pad to remove loose oxidation and grime, then treated with Ballistol. The exterior received paste wax for additional protection, and the screw threads received a small amount of Hoppe’s oil.

It was not repainted or polished to look new. The goal was a clean, mechanically usable vintage tool that retains its age and character.

A nice addition to a vintage leatherworking, harness-making or general hand-tool collection. It also makes an attractive industrial workshop display piece. Buyers intending to put it into production use should verify and source the appropriate tooling for their particular application.
