Vintage Stanley “Yankee” No. 130A spiral ratchet screwdriver with the classic red wood handle. Made in USA, smooth quick-return action, and comes with one original Stanley Phillips bit plus a matching flat blade bit so it’s ready to go straight to the bench or the display rack.

Detailed description

This is a genuine vintage Stanley “Yankee” No. 130A spiral ratchet screwdriver, made in the U.S.A., with the classic red-finished wooden handle and bright plated shaft. The quick-return spiral makes driving or removing screws fast—just push the handle and let the tool do the work.

I fully went through this tool so it’s clean, protected, and ready to use:

  • Disassembled and cleaned with mineral spirits
  • Light 320-grit sanding on the handle to smooth toolbox rash while keeping the original “Stanley Yankee” marking visible
  • Handle treated with boiled linseed oil and a beeswax finish for a dry, satin feel
  • Metal surfaces wiped with Ballistol and finished with paste wax
  • Internal mechanism lubricated with Hoppes oil and tested in all ratchet positions

Bits included

  • Vintage Stanley Phillips bit, marked “Stanley 3028-2P USA”
  • Matching vintage flat-blade Yankee-style bit (fits the same chuck)

The mechanism runs smoothly in forward, reverse, and locked positions. The handle shows honest wear—small dings and finish loss on the high spots—but no cracks or structural damage. Plating on the shaft and chuck is bright with only light age marks.

This is a solid mid-century shop tool, likely 1950s production, that’s still very usable for woodworking, general shop work, or as a display piece in a hand-tool collection.
