Vintage Fulton spiral ratcheting screwdriver with original box – made in Germany

German-made Fulton push/pull screwdriver in the classic “Yankee Handyman” style, complete with its original cardboard box. Cleaned, lightly serviced, and ready for the bench or the display shelf.

Features

  • Fulton spiral ratcheting screwdriver, Made in Germany
  • Push/pull action with forward, reverse, and non-ratcheting settings
  • Original flat-blade bit included
  • Black and orange painted wood handle
  • Original printed cardboard box with tool illustration on the front
  • Box end stamped “1.59” – likely the original hardware store price

Condition

  • Mechanically:
  • Ratchet works properly in both directions and in “locked” (no ratchet) mode
  • Spiral shaft is straight and cycles smoothly
  • Metal:
  • Plating is bright with light scratches and small spots from normal use
  • Bit shows honest wear and light staining but no major damage
  • Handle:
  • Long crack in the black section has been stabilized with thin CA glue – solid under normal use, but the line is still visible
  • Small divots at the butt from a previous owner digging out dried oil; cosmetic only
  • Orange collar has scattered paint loss around the edge
  • Box:
  • Graphics and edges are good for the age
  • One end is torn open and missing flap(s); the other end is intact
  • Interior liner is intact and not crushed

Please look closely at all photos for the best read on condition – they’re part of the description.

Service & finish

This driver was lightly restored for clean, ready-to-use condition:

  • Wiped down and cleaned of old grime
  • Spiral lubricated with Hoppe’s oil and cycled until smooth
  • Other metal surfaces treated with Ballistol, then sealed with paste wax
  • Handle cleaned, crack wicked with thin CA and clamped, then finished with boiled linseed oil and beeswax
  • Box gently dusted and straightened, no tape or heavy repairs

These don't lock closed; like most Handyman-style drivers this one is designed to live in the box extended, and the box is sized accordingly.

Size

  • Overall length (extended, with bit): see photo with ruler
  • Box length: see photo with ruler

(Measurements are approximate.)

Shipping & packaging

Tool and box will be packed separately inside the same outer carton so the vintage box doesn’t get crushed:

  • Driver wrapped and padded on its own
  • Original box lightly filled and sandwiched between flat pieces of corrugated cardboard
  • Everything rides in a rigid shipping box with plenty of padding
