Tool Detail
Vintage Disston D-23 hand saw
sharpened crosscut panel saw, mid century carpentry tool or wall decor

Mid-20th-century Disston D-23 hand saw with the classic carved handle and keystone etch, cleaned, sharpened, and ready for work or display. The plate is straight with a visible D-23 etch, full tooth line, and honest staining and speckled patina left in place. The original varnished handle has been gently cleaned and refreshed, not stripped, so it still looks like a real working shop tool with decades of life left in it.
This listing is for a vintage Disston D-23 hand saw from the mid-20th century, made in the USA.
The blade is straight and solid with a visible D-23 keystone etch and the DISSTON name still readable at the right angle. Rust has been removed and the plate cleaned back to sound metal, but the original patina, age staining, and a scattering of light pitting were left in place so it keeps its vintage character instead of looking over-polished.
The saw has been properly jointed, filed, and lightly set as a crosscut, so it’s ready to go back to work in the shop for breaking down stock or general carpentry. Teeth are all present and full height with a consistent profile.
The later-style Disston handle is hardwood with the classic carved accents and a “DISSTON USA” medallion. The handle was cleaned, an old sticker and adhesive were carefully removed, and the original varnish was preserved. It has a warm, low-sheen feel from a thin oil and wax refresh—not a thick modern varnish job. Expect small dings and marks from use; nothing structural.
This saw makes a great working user tool for someone who appreciates older steel, and it also presents well as shop or wall decor thanks to the visible etch and carved handle.
You’ll receive a printed care sheet from my shop with tips on storing and maintaining vintage tools.
Dating note: Etsy requires a single decade, so this is listed under the 1950s. The medallion style, handle pattern, and etch place it as a later-model Disston D-23 from the mid-20th century; exact production year is not known.
