Tool Details
This antique Keen Kutter dehorning saw is an unusual piece of early livestock and farm equipment from the E.C. Simmons era. The heavy metal frame is prominently cast KEEN KUTTER, and the shaped wooden handle retains a worn but identifiable E.C. Simmons / Keen Kutter shield trademark.
The saw includes two interchangeable vintage blades: a wider blade installed in the frame and a narrower spare blade. Both blades were carefully cleaned and inspected. No maker’s marks were found on either blade, so they are being represented as period/vintage blades rather than specifically identified as Keen Kutter manufacture.

Condition
Very good restored antique condition with substantial original character retained. The black frame finish shows expected chips, scratches, edge wear and losses from age and use. The wooden handle has scratches, small dings and other age-related wear, including wear around the surviving trademark.
Both blades retain dark staining, patina, scattered oxidation and surface wear after cleaning. The teeth remain visibly present, as shown in the close-up photograph. The blades have not been represented as newly sharpened.

Restoration
The saw was disassembled and conservatively cleaned. Surface oxidation and accumulated grime were removed from the blades and hardware while avoiding unnecessary removal of aged surfaces. The surviving black finish on the frame was preserved rather than stripped and repainted.
Special care was taken around the wooden handle to retain the worn E.C. Simmons/Keen Kutter trademark rather than sanding it away. Metal components were cleaned and protected before final reassembly.
The result is a mechanically complete, attractive antique tool that still looks its age rather than a newly manufactured reproduction.
