Condition

Sole lapped on a granite reference block for good working contact at toe, mouth, and heel; light cosmetic pitting remains, as shown
Iron has good life left; some staining and patina but no active rust
Adjuster wheel and screw work smoothly after cleaning
Honest cosmetic wear, casting texture, and small dings from previous shop use

Restoration work performed

Fully disassembled, degreased, and cleaned
Rust and grime removed while preserving original patina
Sole trued “good enough for work” on granite plate – not ground dead-flat like a collector smoother
Iron back flattened at the cutting edge, bevel reground and honed; final honing on fine abrasives and burr removed
Adjuster screw and wheel cleaned, oiled, and tested through full travel
Wood knob lightly sanded, then finished with oil and wax for a smooth, dry feel
Metal surfaces treated with light oil and paste wax for protection

How it behaves

This is a simple single-iron utility plane, not a precision Bailey smoother. Expect:
