Compact, early 20th-century Stanley No. 75 bullnose rabbet plane with an adjustable mouth and an original “Stanley Rule & Level Co.” marked iron.

The No. 75 is a small, nimble plane made for trimming rabbets, tenon shoulders and other tight spots where a full-size shoulder plane won’t fit. This one has been tuned as a user: the sole is lapped, the iron is sharp, and the sliding nose adjusts smoothly so you can set a fine or more open mouth depending on the cut.

Condition

This is a working vintage tool, not a reproduction.

Body is solid with no cracks or repairs.
Japanning is largely worn off, with honest patina and speckling from age and use.
Iron shows normal wear for its age and has been ground back from original length but still has good life left and takes a clean edge.
Sole has been lapped flat at the toe and around the mouth for accurate work.
Sliding nose seats well and adjusts without drama.

Restoration & Tuning

This plane has been lightly restored for ready-to-use, shop-grade condition while preserving its vintage character:

Disassembled and cleaned (nylon brush & mineral spirits).
Rust addressed with WD-40 and abrasive pad / wire on hardware and threads.
Sole lapped and edges eased.
Iron flattened and sharpened; bevel honed and tested.
Oiled with Ballistol, with a micro-dot of Hoppes on adjuster threads.
Finished with a coat of paste wax on metal surfaces for corrosion protection.
Reassembled, mouth adjusted and test-cut on scrap to confirm performance.
