Vintage Stanley No. 604 Bedrock Smooth Restored User Grade Woodworking Hand Plane

Restored vintage Stanley No. 604 smooth plane, a complete early 1900s user-grade woodworking tool with honest age and patina. This example has two old body chips and a repaired tote crack, all clearly shown and disclosed, but the mouth is intact and the plane presents well for display or practical hand-tool use.
Detailed description
A restored vintage Stanley No. 604 smooth plane, cleaned and tuned with a light-touch approach to preserve age, patina, and remaining original character. This is a solid user-grade example of a desirable Stanley smoother, complete and ready for collection, display, or light-to-normal woodworking use.
Tool details
Stanley No. 604 smooth plane. Toe marked “No 604.” Bed shows patent date “PAT’D APR. 2-95.” Bed and frog are marked with a “B.” Sold as a restored vintage user plane, not as a mint collector-grade example.
Condition
This plane shows honest wear from age and use. There are two old casting chips to the body: one larger chip at the upper rear sidewall and one smaller chip near the front on the opposite side. No body cracks were observed in those damaged areas. The mouth remains intact. The rear tote had a lateral crack that was repaired with epoxy. Finish wear, scattered scratches, darkened patina, and normal age marks remain.
Restoration performed
Disassembled, cleaned, and de-rusted by hand with care taken not to over-refinish the body. Sharp edges around the chipped areas were lightly dressed only. Tote crack was repaired with epoxy. Metal and wood were then protected with oil/wax finish before reassembly and tuning.
Ideal use
A good fit for a hand-tool woodworker wanting an honest vintage user, or for a collector/decorator who likes real old tools with visible history rather than over-restored examples.
Shipping info
Ships packed carefully with the iron secured for transit. A printed care sheet is included with the plane.
