Vintage Stanley No. 82 Cabinet Scraper

Early-20th-century Stanley No. 82 adjustable cabinet scraper, cleaned and preserved while retaining its original aged character. The wooden handle and front knob have been cleaned, stabilized, oiled and waxed, and the adjustable head operates as intended. Scraper blade is not included, making this best suited to a collector, restorer, or woodworker who already has or plans to source a compatible cutter.

Tool Details

Vintage Stanley No. 82 adjustable cabinet scraper with its distinctive long wooden handle, front ball knob and pivoting scraper head.

The adjustable head allows the working angle to be changed and locked in position. The raised STANLEY name and No. 82 designation remain visible on the casting.

Overall length is approximately 12 inches; see the ruler photo for scale.

Important: this scraper is being sold WITHOUT a scraper blade/cutter.

A broken segment of modern snap-off utility blade had been clamped into the tool when acquired. It was clearly not the proper cutter and was removed rather than passed along as part of the tool. A correct or compatible scraper cutter will need to be sourced by the buyer before the tool can be put back into normal scraping service.

Condition

Good restored vintage condition with substantial honest age and working character.

The metal retains dark patina, oxidation staining, finish loss, pitting and other evidence of its previous working life. It was intentionally preserved rather than aggressively polished.

The long wooden handle shows numerous scratches, dents, dark staining and finish wear.

The original wooden front knob has considerable age checking and cracking. These areas were stabilized during restoration and remain clearly visible. Please examine the close-up photographs carefully.

The adjustment hardware and pivoting mechanism move and operate after cleaning.

No scraper blade/cutter is included.

This tool was disassembled as needed and cleaned with an emphasis on preservation rather than making it look new.

No replacement scraper cutter was installed.
