This vintage mid-20th-century PARK steel toolbox has that just-right “been there, done that” look—olive green wrinkle paint, a black PARK badge on the lid, and plenty of honest shop wear. Based on similar PARK boxes, it likely dates to the 1950s–1960s.

It’s a single-compartment metal tool chest with the original black steel lift-out tray still in place. The tray rails are straight, it seats correctly, and the box opens and closes the way it should.

I cleaned the box back to a stable, usable patina without stripping its history:

Loose rust and grime removed inside and out
Light oil on moving parts, then a thin coat of paste wax for protection
Original paint and small dings, scratches, and worn-through spots left as-is

You’ll see wear along the corners and edges, some scuffs and scratches on the lid and sides, and use marks in the tray. The tray bottom shows the usual speckled wear from tools being tossed in and out over the years. There’s also a small hand-scratched doodle/name on the inside of the lid that I left in place—it adds a bit of character and story.

All of it is cosmetic only:

No rot-through or soft spots
Hinge runs smoothly
Latch snaps closed securely
Handle feels solid and confident when you pick it up

Perfect as a working toolbox, a place to corral reloading or gun bench odds and ends, or as a vintage accent on a shelf or workbench.

Original olive green textured paint with chips, scratches, and rub-through consistent with age and use
Interior and tray show wear, staining, and finish loss but are clean and dry to the touch
Light surface rust remains in some recessed seams and corners as staining only – no loose, flaky rust
Latch, hinge, and handle all work properly
