Vintage Ford T1387 Adjustable Wrench
Model T Tool Kit Smooth Jaw Auto Wrench

Vintage Ford T1387 smooth-jaw adjustable wrench from the Model T/early Model A era, cleaned, lubricated, and waxed while keeping the original dark patina. The Ford script logo, T1387 part number, and circled “F” foundry mark are all visible, and the jaw adjusts smoothly for light use or display. A solid little piece of early automotive history for your shop wall, tool collection, or Ford display shelf.
Detailed Description
Tool details
This is a genuine vintage Ford T1387 smooth-jaw adjustable wrench, the style supplied in Ford Model T and early Model A tool kits. It has flat jaws for nuts and bolts (not pipe teeth), with the raised Ford script on one side of the head and “T1387” with the circled “F” foundry mark on the reverse. Overall length is approximately 9 in. Jaw opens to roughly 1 in, so it’s handy for small nuts and hardware as well as display.
Condition
The wrench shows honest wear from a previous working life: casting texture, small dings, shallow pitting, and staining in the finish. The Ford script is still visible but softened from age. The jaw travels fully and adjusts smoothly after service, and the faces are flat with only minor edge wear. No cracks or repairs were found on inspection.
Restoration work performed
This wrench was fully hand-cleaned and serviced before listing. Loose rust and grime were brushed away, the moving rack and jaw slide were detailed, and the wrench was treated with mineral oil and Hoppe’s oil on internal moving parts for smooth adjustment. Finally, the metal was sealed with a thin coat of paste wax and buffed to a low sheen to protect the patina without making it shiny or “new.” It’s ready for display or light duty right out of the box.
Ideal uses
- Display piece in a Ford, Model T, or vintage auto collection
- Character tool for a shop, garage, or mancave wall
- Functional smooth-jaw wrench for light adjustment tasks
- Gift for a mechanic, car enthusiast, or Ford fan who appreciates original tools
Care
A simple wipe-down after handling and an occasional light coat of oil or wax will keep the patina stable. I include a printed care sheet with every tool so it’s easy to maintain.
Date / era note
This pattern is associated with Ford Model T and early Model A tool kits, roughly 1910s–1920s. Etsy requires a single decade selection, so this wrench will be listed under 1920s, with this fuller range noted here for clarity.
