Tool details

This is a genuine vintage TRIMO monkey wrench made by Trimont Mfg. Co., Roxbury, Mass., U.S.A. It measures about 18 inches long and retains clear period markings including SIZE 18” and PAT’D 12-19-1911. It is the smooth-jaw monkey wrench form, not a toothed pipe wrench, with the bold TRIMO logo on both sides of the head.

Condition

Overall very good vintage condition with honest age and use wear. The wrench has a clean dark steel patina with some minor surface marks and small traces of age left in recessed areas. Markings remain strong and very readable. No handle issues, no major rust, and no obvious abuse noted. Adjuster was stiff when acquired but is now moving properly after cleaning and lubrication. As with any old tool, expect normal cosmetic wear from age and prior use.

Restoration performed

This wrench only needed light conservation, not heavy restoration. It was:

cleaned with mineral spirits,
lightly addressed in a few recessed areas with WD-40 and a 3M pad,
oiled to improve adjuster movement,
and finished with a thin protective coat of wax.

No repainting, no heavy grinding, and no over-restoration.
