16 Inch Open End Wrench, Industrial Decor, Blacksmith Garage Tool
Large vintage double open-end Whitworth-style spanner measuring about 16 inches long, with heavy blackened steel finish, honest shop wear, and markings for 7/8 and 1. The actual jaw openings measure approximately 1-7/16” and 1-5/8”, consistent with older Whitworth/BSW-style sizing where the stamped number refers to bolt size rather than jaw width. Cleaned and stabilized for display, ideal as industrial wall decor, garage decor, or a mechanic gift.
Detailed Description
This is a large vintage double open-end spanner / wrench with a heavy forged steel body and worn black industrial finish. It measures approximately 16 inches overall and has strong visual presence for shop, garage, office, bar, man cave, or industrial-style wall decor.
The wrench is marked 7/8 on one end and 1 on the other. The actual jaw openings measure approximately 1-7/16 inches and 1-5/8 inches. That apparent mismatch is normal for older Whitworth / BSW-style spanners, where the stamped size often refers to the bolt diameter rather than the across-flats jaw opening.
Additional markings appear to read G.B. 41 or G.B. 4 1. I have not confirmed the maker, so this is listed accurately as a marked vintage industrial spanner rather than attributed to a specific manufacturer.
Condition is good for vintage industrial decor. The wrench shows honest wear from age and previous shop use, including scratches, small dings, scattered finish loss, jaw edge wear, and worn black coating. It has been cleaned and lightly stabilized while preserving the aged working patina. It has not been polished or refinished.
This piece is best suited for display, industrial wall decor, garage styling, mechanic-themed decor, or as a gift for someone who appreciates old tools. It remains a real steel wrench, but I am selling it primarily as a vintage decor piece.
